Howdy! Just wondering how that whole 'feedback' lead sound is achieved? At first I thought E-Bow, but I can't see one in the live videos, which leads me to think a sustain pedal or some other such effect. I want to try and utilise a similar effect in a new band, with an EH POG to double the signal.

Mark will tell you the technical stuff. I just know it can be done by having your amp too loud and the angle of the guitar/the way you hold your mouth

Real feedback, then, as a possibility?

Real feedback, then, as a possibility? Seems obvious now. I'll give it a whirl; I'm not a fan of E-Bows, so it'd be awesome if actual feedback will do the trick (assuming I can control it effectively).

Mark was also on about a neck pick up that gives that kind of effect. If we can get him off Skype for a minute maybe he'll come and explain

Yep its an e-bow. I just pick it up dead quick live, but you have to get some nice vibrato going to really make it sing!

Shame, I don't like using Ebows (don't know why - maybe 'cause I'm shite at controlling them). However, I'm gonna try the feedback thing when I get a band together; currently redundant in that area

e-bow can be a bit of a pain live, I've tried hanging it off the mic stand and all kinds of stuff but just having it down near my pedals and grabbing it has worked the best so far, would make life easy to have a pick up that does it though as I tend t use it a bit! m.

Yeah, or an uber-sustain pedal.

I don't know if you will get the same effect, the e-bow sound has a lot to do with the way the magnet vibrates the strings, but I'm sure you can get something like it

Then perhaps I need to develop a 'pick-up' with a selectable/switchable magnet (to avoid vibrating all strings at once)?
